Out Montclair has announced the first-ever Montclair Pride festival featuring headliner Betty Who.

The Montclair Pride festival, hosted by Out Montclair, will raise awareness and strengthen ties in our community and among all LGBTQ+ people and allies in the region, as well as provide a celebration filled with art, culture, food, music and live performances to uplift LGBTQ+ people, issues and history. Montclair Pride will be held Saturday, June 11th, in downtown Montclair.

The nonprofit, volunteer-run organization established in 2021, along with the historic Wellmont Theater in downtown Montclair, have announced that Betty Who will be the featured musical artist to perform at the The Montclair Pride Concert at the Wellmont Theater, with Fab the Duo as supporting artists.

Australian singer/songwriter Betty Who has had multiple #1s on Billboard charts including Hot 100 and Top Dance Club charts like her breakout hit “Somebody Loves You,” as well as “All of You,”and “All Things,” her cover of Netflix’s Queer Eye opening number.

Fab the Duo is an alt rock duo based in Los Angeles and boyfriends in real life living their motto “Be You, Be Proud, and Be Loud!” Broadway World noted they’ve performed at Pride festivals in Austin, Los Angeles and Burlington and “hope to change the way people see queer, interracial love in the music scene and beyond.”

The Wellmont Theater celebrates its 100th year in downtown Montclair. It began as a venue for vaudeville, stage plays, and movies and now hosts top acts and performances in its historic hall. It is one of eight Event Sponsors of Montclair Pride, a festival to represent and honor Montclair’s longstanding and widespread reputation as a welcoming place for LGBTQIA+ people and our allies, families and neighbors.

“The Wellmont Theater exists to be a hub of art, culture and music in the heart of Montclair. We welcome expression, encourage authenticity and stand in total solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community,” said David Genova, owner of The Wellmont Theater. “We could not be more excited to host the very first Montclair Pride concert on June 11th, 2022, featuring Betty Who and special guests Fab the Duo. We thank Live Nation, Out Montclair and all of our other partners for helping us create this historic event. We’ll see you soon.”

“We are so excited to welcome Betty Who, a phenomenal talent who has performed and provided the soundtrack for Pride celebrations the world over,” said Out Montclair President and Founder, Peter Yacobellis. “Betty Who has also been a steadfast supporter of nonprofit organizations that serve and protect LGBTQ youth and people, a key mission for Out Montclair. We are proud to have Betty Who and Fab the Duo represent the joy and passion of our first-ever Montclair Pride Concert on stage at the Wellmont.”
