You had to be there…The Lineup
What a superb show. Last night The Lineup was true variety and the acts were all stars. Let’s get to it.
Starting us off was the dynamo Natalie Arneson Looking likes million bucks in a shimmering 20’s style dress she ushered us into the show with a killer voice and a commanding presence. Love her!
Next up was the brilliant young composer Billy Recce. I’ve know him for a few years and it’s been a pleasure watching him grow. He is a marvelous lyricist and his song about a show needing to be gayer had me scream laughing.
Oh my stars and garters! (This phrase would make my gramma proud) The Drinkwater Brothers are FANTASTIC. John Drinkwater and his twin Matthew Drinkwater bring energy, fun and great musicianship to the table. If I could have them every week I would.
Meaghan Sands Ungar is utterly unique and I loved every moment she was on stage. Funny, neurotic and a kick ass singer she had us all breathless. So glad she was at the party. The one and only Brad Simmons was next, singing another fabulous original song, he and the band were a joy to hear. Bravo Brad!
LORDY! Marissa Licata is so freaking talented. A violinist/Tasmanian Devil, Marissa plays like the house is on fire. With the help of Shannon Ford on drums and Brad and John Miller whirling along with her, she whipped us all into a frenzy. Love her so much.
Then the truly hilarious Susan Jeremy stepped up to the mic and did a guffaw inducing 5 minutes of comedy. Excellent. Jayke Workman is like no other human. This young fellow has a soaring, impossibly glorious voice and his rendition of Oh My Man made the audience swoon. Wow.
And to bring the show to a rousing, foot stomping close Jackie Sanders, playing saxophone, bringing color and delight to the bandstand. Along with guitarist Colin Taber and her legendary husband Bill Hayes on drums they slayed. Period. SLAYED.
After the show, there was our drummer Clint de Ganon along with Shannon Ford, Bill Hayes and John Miller crowded around a table swapping stories and laughing. Musicians communing. That just tickled me.
WHAT A NIGHT. Thanks to everyone who brought their light and let it shine so brightly. I’m so lucky. See you next Tuesday!
