Catch quality concerts at San Francisco’s Feinstein’s

I have missed theatre in so many ways. Of course, COVID was the biggest reason but now that it’s back, so much theatre has been popping up on my social media that I feel a bit overwhelmed.

I can’t believe some shows and concerts high on my list have come and gone.

The Bay Area had a flurry of openings and it was exciting and fun and reminded me of days pre-pandemic. Some great concerts have come to San Francisco’s Feinstein’s at the Nikko that passed right by me. So let’s not let that happen to you. Here are a few spring concerts at Feinstein’s that should not be missed.

MEGAN HILTY – April 14, 15 and 16

If you don’t know the big powerful voice of Hilty, you must not be a theatre lover. She has played Broadway including the Dolly Parton role in “9 to 5: The Musical” and recently had great acclaim in the made-for-TV movie “Patsy & Loretta.” But most of us know her from the theatre-lovers TV series “Smash” a few years back. She is definitely a talent worth seeking out.

LUCIE ARNAZ – April 22 and 23

Many of the younger theatergoers might not know Arnaz and yet think her name sounds familiar. First and foremost, she’s the daughter of the “I Love Lucy” stars who were recently featured in the Oscar-nominated film “Being the Ricardos.” But Lucie is a different Lucie to love with her amazing storytelling and wonderful singing voice. If you don’t believe me, download her songs from the under-produced Broadway musical  “They’re Playing Our Song.”

MICHAELA DIAMOND – April 29 and 30

This is one of those stars you want to see before she totally becomes a star, selling out every show. She made her debut playing the younger Cher on Broadway in “The Cher Show” and has continued to make her mark with performances which include TV’s “Jesus Christ Superstar” and the movie “Tick Tick Boom.” 

LORNA LUFT – May 6 and 7

Speaking of famous families, Lorna Luft is the daughter of Judy Garland and has had a very successful cabaret (and movie) career. Her Mother’s Day weekend performance salutes her mother and you will definitely see that talent runs in that family.

SETH RUDETSKY – May 12 and 13

If you know this name, you can definitely run around the country calling yourself a theatre nerd. Rudetsky not only has a popular radio show, but he works with so many of the greatest performers of the theatre world that EVERYONE involved in Broadway and musicals know who he is. This show will be more of his storytelling – which we will find out is as interesting as his accompanying famous people singing showtunes.

JUSTIN VIVIAN BOND – June 1-4

Let’s end spring on a high note. Not only is Justin an accomplished entertainer, but they represent the LGBTQ community at its best. Not only will this show help prepare us for summer, but it starts Gay Pride Month with Bond performing a show entitled “Oh Mary, It’s Pride” with songs by, for and about Mary’s.
