Wanda Sykes to embark on 2024 national stand-up comedy tour
Award-winning comedian Wanda Sykes’ 2024 “Please & Thank You” tour will be her first major live shows since the pandemic.
Legendary comedian, actress and producer Wanda Sykes returns to the live stage in 2024 for a massive nationwide tour with dates beginning in March and spanning New Hampshire to Hawaii.
The “Please & Thank You” comedy tour is the veteran stand-up comedian’s first major tour in six years and will follow her second hour-long comedy special, I’m An Entertainer, which premiered globally on Netflix in May.
The first 29 dates of the tour kick off on March 1 in Concord, N.H., and end June 15 in Kansas City, Mo., with more dates to be potentially added this year. Check the tour dates here. Get tickets here.
Like most of us, Sykes has been screen-bound and home-bound for the past few years, making occasional appearances at clubs and venues in the lead-up to her Emmy-nominated Netflix special which drew its material from some of the key pandemic-era (and ongoing) issues such as the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol, George Floyd and BLM, queer parenting, and transgender rights. Sykes’ ability to say what she means to say and speak the truth while treading carefully through the landmines of cancel culture and political backlash are qualities treasured by fans and new viewers alike.
The new live gigs in Spring and Summer are extensive but if you can’t see Sykes live, check out her 2019 Netflix comedy special, Not Normal, which was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards; Netflix’s award-winning comedy The Upshaws; and Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration special, the largest-ever gathering of LGBTQ+ comics recorded at Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival in 2022.
