Peppermint to be honored at Sing Out For Freedom concert

Tickets are now available to the 21st annual Sing Out for Freedom concert on Monday, November 13, at 7:30 p.m. hosted by comedian, writer and actress Amber Ruffin

This year, we will honor entertainer, artist, and ACLU Artist Ambassador for Transgender Justice, Peppermint (Hulu’s Fire Island, OUTtv’s “Call Me Mother”), who will receive The Michael Friedman Freedom Award. You may remember Peppermint from when she hosted and performed at our show in 2021. Tony and Emmy Award-nominated writer and TV host Amber Ruffin (Some Like It Hot, Peacock’s “The Amber Ruffin Show”) will host the evening’s festivities.

The star-studded list of performers and presenters also includes Hayley Kiyoko, Michelle Buteau, Cheyenne Jackson, Taylor Iman Jones, Alexis Michelle, Pia Toscano, VINCINT, Liana Stampur, and more. Additional performers and presenters will be announced shortly, so stay tuned…

Tickets start at just $35 and can be purchased here, or you can visit our event website for more information. And follow @Artists4NYCLU on Instagram for more news about performers and guest appearances! The event returns to its longtime home at the NYU Skirball Center in downtown Manhattan.

Your ticket purchase supports the ACLU and NYCLU’s work in the ongoing fight for civil liberties. This year’s theme is Sing Out for Freedom: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Fabulous and will highlight the NYCLU’s work to protect all New Yorkers from discrimination, including work with New Yorkers for Equal Rights to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment and work with the ACLU Drag Defense Fund to protect LGBTQ+ rights.
