Avanti Designs teams up with Lei, donates proceeds to Honolulu Pride
In the past few years, Hawaiian-style shirts have definitely been making their way back in style. As this trend continues to grow in popularity, Hawaii-based Avanti Designs is a brand to know. A family-owned business since it began in 1991, it was founded by the parents of operations manager Vincent Hui after they migrated from Hong Kong to Hawaii.
Today the brand is best known for its high-quality silk and cotton shirts, and its Vintage Collection – which re-creates authentic prints on silk from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. The brand started with its own physical store in Waikiki before opening its online shop and numerous independent boutiques across the country.
This year, Avanti has partnered with Lei, Hawai’i’s voice for the LGBTQ traveler, in celebration of their NYC event at WorldPride. The creatives behind Lei selected four of their favorite retro Avanti designs for this limited collaboration – Hibiscus, Tropic Banana, Orchid Panel – Red Clay and Surfer. 100% of net proceeds from this collection will be donated to Honolulu Pride™.
Avanti’s Hawaiian shirts celebrate the past in authentic patterns that recall the nostalgic heyday of Hawaii’s most famous product. Their retro shirts are for today’s connoisseur or collector who wants to wear a unique piece of apparel art from the Hawaiian Islands.
