Harry Styles Drops Sexuality Ambiguous ‘Lights Up’ Video on National Coming Out Day

Singer Harry Styles of dropped brand new music for the first time in over a year, debuting the music video for his brand new single “Lights Up”, sending fans into meltdown. The extra steamy music video, which is being praised as a “bisexual anthem”, was dropped on National Coming Out Day, leaving many wondering what message he’s sending.

The groovy pop track includes the lyrics “Lights up and they know who you are/Know who you are/Do you know who you are?” and “Step into the light (Shine)/So bright sometimes (Shine)/I’m not ever going back“. The steamy video has heads spinning for its sexual ambiguity, as it features the singer dancing seductively with both men and women, while serving some shimmery, gender-neutral looks.

Fans immediately took to social media to applaud the video. One fan wrote, “The fact harry released a music video where he’s dancing with the boys and the girls on national coming out day” while another said, “Okay but harry starting his new era on national coming out day can NOT be ignored”.

Harry has previously stated that he doesn’t feel the need to label his sexuality, and in his 2018 song “Medicine”, he sang lyrics about messing around with “boys and girls”. He has also been a staunch supporter of LGBTQ rights, and has co-hosted the last camp-themed Met Gala.

It isn’t clear if dropping the song on National Coming Out Day is a subtle hint to the world of his bisexuality, or if he simply just chose the date to support the cause of his LGBTQ fans all over the world, giving them the anthem they deserve.

Whatever the case, the star is back with a huge bang, and he now has fans on pins and needles awaiting the release of his upcoming album.
