Drag Me to Hell: Queens and Bloodbath Make for a Fun Halloween
The whole year has been a trick. So let’s remain upbeat and find some treats this Halloween.
One of the most talented Bay Area drag queens, Peaches Christ, is bringing us on Oct. 29 Hocum Pokem, her drag retelling of the Bette Midler film “Hocus Pocus.” Filmed pre-pandemic, Christ will share the stage and screen with RuPaul’s Drag Race legends Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme.

If you want to be dragged to a Rocky Horror-ish show, while sold out (but there’s a waiting list), D’Arcy Drollinger, who has played the lead in the stage show for the past several years, isn’t letting COVID stop her from sharing her love of this over-the-top classic.
So there is a Rocky Horror Show of sorts this Saturday, Halloween, at SF Oasis. The Rocky Horror Oasis Show is real and live – not virtual. It promises to be a fun drag show with a Rocky Horror-themed drag show — and it includes dinner! Get on the list at www.sfoasis.com.
San Jose Stage is also going virtual with their production of Night of the Living Dead live. If it’s anything like the London version (which I saw last year), we’re in for fun! And, you don’t have to know the way to San Jose as you’ll be watching from home.
It takes the classic movie and camps it up, bringing the horror to the stage. In London, there was a splatter zone where blood gushed from the stage into the audience. While this can’t happen through the TV screen – – although that would be an accomplishment — it still will be fun, and you can certainly make your own splatter zone at home. It’s just that now you need to clean it up yourself.
