Task Force appoints Tiffany Tran to key position
The National LGBTQ Task Force has announced the appointment of Tiffany Tran as Senior Legislative Manager and Cathy Renna transitioning to Communications Director after serving as interim director since May.
Tiffany Tran joins the National LGBTQ Task Force as the Senior Legislative Manager, part of the Advocacy and Action department. Before joining the Task Force, she worked in the California State Legislature as a Field Representative to Assemblymember Jose Medina.
Tran developed and maintained meaningful relationships with federal, state, county, local government officials, non-profit partners, and both private and public entities in the greater Inland Empire area to further the goals and missions of the Assembly office. In this role, she was the lead staffer in policy areas that included but not limited to higher education, human services, foster – youth advocacy, labor unions, housing, and homelessness. She was the key staffer for Assemblymember Medina’s efforts in obtaining $3.5 Million for the Mission Heritage Plaza Affordable Housing and Civil Rights Institute in Riverside County.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Tiffany’s dynamic legislative and relationship-building experience joining our Advocacy and Action team,” said Liz Seaton, Policy Director. “From her campaign experience to her ability to connect with communities and navigate the legislative process, she will be a valued and integral member of the team,” concluded Seaton.
Recently, Tran served as the Inland Empire Political Director for the Michael Bloomberg Presidential Campaign 2020. In this capacity, she pushed for endorsements from local leaders to help elevate Bloomberg’s campaign, working with leaders from all across the board. She was 1 of 6 regional Political Directors in the state of California for Mike. In 2018, Tiffany was the Campaign Manager for California State Assemblymember Jose Medina’s re-election campaign where he won 67% of the votes – the highest percentage of votes he has ever received in his time as a legislator. Tran holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and a Masters of Public Policy from the University of California, Riverside.
Cathy Renna assumed the position of Interim Communications Director in May, and will continue in that role on a permanent basis as of January 1, 2021.
