Revelatory documentary on Truman Capote and Tennessee Williams is coming

Kino Lorber has acquired the rights for Truman & Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation, featuring the voices of Jim Parsons and Zachary Quinto 

Kino Lorber has acquired North American rights to Lisa Immordino Vreeland’s Truman and Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation. The film was selected for the 2020 Telluride Film Festival and will be released in June 2021. Vreeland previously directed Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has To Travel (2012) and Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict (2015). Zeitgeist Films in association with Kino Lorber released Vreeland’s Love, Cecil  in 2017. Vreeland’s newest film will also be screening at the upcoming virtual Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival taking place March 24 to 28 based out of New Orleans.

Truman and Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation explores the personal and professional journeys of iconic American writers Truman Capote and Tennesee Williams — their loves, fears, and artistic achievements — through archival materials, film clips, and vibrant voiceover work from actors Jim Parsons and Zachary Quinto, who give voice to Capote and Williams respectively.

Packed with pearls of wisdoms and eloquent observations, the film celebrates the sometimes tumultuous friendship of the titular writers through the ages, while honoring the way their queer identity informed their world-renowned artistic achievements and relationships with their family, confidants, and — most significantly — each other.

Immordino Vreeland said, “We created an intimate tête à tête with these two great literary giants, using their words and works to demonstrate their rich imaginary worlds, their passions, their love affairs, and their celebrity…and ultimately the price they paid for success and fame. Truman and Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation will be released in June 2021, followed by a VOD release on Kino Now and home video.
