Anti-gay, anti-vaccine broadcaster and pastor dies of Covid
Christian conservative Bob Enyart, who mocked AIDS sufferers and led a crusade against vaccines and masks during the pandemic, has died of coronavirus.
On September 1, Westword reported that Bob Enyart, a controversial Denver media figure and pastor of Denver Bible Church, had contracted COVID-19, along with his wife, Cheryl. Enyart and his wife were unvaccinated against COVID-19 after supporting the debunked theory that vaccinations had been tested on aborted fetuses. Their son Dominic posted that his father’s illness “is just a minor case,” but that soon changed and on September 13, Fred Williams, Enyart’s colleague and co-host revealed that he had died of the disease. He was 63 and not vaccinated.
Not only was he unvaccinated, Enyart was the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit that prompted a U.S. District Court judge appointed by President Donald Trump to grant a temporary restraining order last October against the Colorado public-health order regarding COVID-19 and mask use at religious services, as well as rules limiting gatherings to 175 people amid the pandemic.
Enyart had been troublesome in the AIDS pandemic too, in which he read a man’s obituary on his television show, Bob Enyart Live, calling the deceased a “sodomite.” A regular feature of the show involved Enyart reading obituaries of AIDS sufferers, and burning the newspaper while playing “Another One Bites the Dust” by Queen, whose lead singer, Freddie Mercury, died in 1991 from AIDS.
A creationist and pro-lifer, he also picketed the homes of doctors who performed abortions, and criticized presidential candidates who did not share his view on abortion. Shockingly, Enyart also believed in corporal punishment for children. A Trump supporter, he also called coronavirus The China Virus.
