CBD oil… Are you trying it?

Stories about legalization of  cannabis and marijuana are all over the internet and news these days… there are many stories talking about the health benefits and it’s getting hard to ignore!

Cannabis is a plant that makes compounds called cannabinoids. There are more than 100 of these chemicals in cannabis. They cause drug-like reactions in your body.

CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are the most common cannabinoids found in cannabis products.

THC and CBD are in both marijuana and hemp. Marijuana contains much more THC than hemp, while hemp has a lot of CBD.

How CBD and THC Affect the Body

THC is the main psychoactive compound in marijuana. It’s what makes people feel “high.” We have two types of cannabinoid receptors in our bodies. THC binds with receptors — mostly in the brain — that control pain, mood, and other feelings. That’s why THC can make you feel euphoric and give you that so-called high.

CBD doesn’t cause that high. Instead, it’s thought to work with other elements in the body linked to feelings of well-being. And because they don’t cause a high, CBD oil products are more widely available for treatments from many different companies.

Its being used more than you think!

I bet someone you know is using CBD, I myself know a few people that use various forms themselves. I asked a few of them to tell me what they use and what for, and I got some great responses:

“CUTS the pain by 50%” said a friend of mine in Provincetown, who has a severe problem conventional medicine is just not helping.

“I used the CBD topical cream and it works wonders on my back” another friend.

“I use it twice a day on my knee. it helps.”

“I use it 100%! I rub it on sore aches limbs and it takes care of the pain!”

“I take tincture both day and night, a capsule in morning and night, and use balm as needed. It has helped with pain, sleep, anxiety, depression, and mood swings. I stopped taking Prozac as a trial and feel like I’m still taking it with all the benefits. I have more energy and easy to rise and fall asleep.”

These comments are from across all kinds of people and ages.

What is the medical world saying?

According to www.medicalnewstoday.com there might also be benefits to treating addiction, with reporting recently that some promising evidence suggests that CBD use may help people to quit smoking. A pilot study published in Addictive Behaviors found that smokers who used inhalers containing CBD smoked fewer cigarettes than usual and had no further cravings for nicotine.

Additionally, after researching the safety and effectiveness of CBD oil for treating epilepsy, the FDA approved the use of CBD (Epidiolex) as a therapy for two rare conditions characterized by epileptic seizures in 2018.

In the U.S., a doctor can prescribe Epidiolex to treat:

  • Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), a condition that appears between the ages of 3 and 5 years and involves different kinds of seizures
  • Dravet syndrome (DS), a rare genetic condition that appears in the first year of life and involves frequent, fever-related seizures

The types of seizures that characterize LGS or DS are difficult to control with other types of medication.

There are so many benefits being reported almost constantly, we are sure the tide will turn in more and more legalized and controlled treatments becoming available.
