Christmas lights are still twinkling in New York City

A visit to the Big Apple for Christmas is a tradition for many couples and families and this year was no exception.

If you live near New York City or enjoy being there for the holidays, then you know the magic of walking into Rockefeller Center when it is decorated for the season.

The majestic tree towering over the infamous skating rink all brightly lit with multi colored lights will bring a smile to your face even in the darkest of times. This year was no different.

Kelli Carpenter and Anne Steele observe their annual holiday tradition

Our city adventure began when we checked into the stunning and elegant Baccarat Hotel. I had heard so much about this hotel property and could not wait to experience it firsthand.

Upon entering the lobby, you are immediately struck by the beauty and sophistication of the lounge areas, restaurant and bar. With the high ceilings, gorgeous Baccarat crystal glassware, chandeliers and accent pieces, and Christmas decorations all around, it was a perfect beginning to our Christmas adventure.

The elegant salon of the Baccarat Hotel

After check in, we made our way up to our room after given a thorough explanation of the services available during these pandemic times. Upon entering our room, we were taken aback by the sheer distinguished style of the suite. Each area of the room provided its own gift of refined elegance that could only be topped by the classic Baccarat glassware in the bar area.

Although the food and beverage areas within the hotel were not operating due to Covid, there were many other options as far as dining. We took advantage of the breakfast and lunch room service, plus they offer a “mini bar” menu option that will bring you snacks and drinks throughout the day. Their concierge service is also available to assist in finding any restaurant in the area.

Spa de la Mer is a Midtown oasis

We ventured down to explore the Spa de la Mer and indoor pool. It felt like an oasis in the middle of midtown Manhattan. I only wish we had time to take advantage of it.

It was time to mask up and walk 5th Avenue and check out the gorgeous Christmas windows at Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman before seeing the Rockefeller Christmas tree. What a beautiful, chilly night it was! It is important during these challenging times to take time to look up at the twinkling lights and know that there are better times ahead.
