Teaser trailer, air date released for Frasier series reboot
It has been confirmed that the revival of the hit TV sitcom Frasier will now include Bebe Neuwirth in a guest role as the frosty doctor.
The Frasier revival has confirmed its premiere date. According to Variety, the eagerly-anticipated 10-episode return of the classic 1990s sitcom will debut with its first two episodes on Paramount+ on October 12 in the U.S. and Canada, and on Oct. 13 elsewhere.
The first two episodes will air back-to-back on CBS on Oct. 17 beginning at 9:15 pm ET/PT.
Paramount+ describes the series in a nutshell: “(T)he new series follows Frasier Crane (Grammer) in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfill. Frasier has re-entered the building!”
Paramount+ has also released a teaser featuring a new recording of series star Kelsey Grammer (Frasier Crane) performing the show’s eccentric theme song, “Tossed Salads & Scrambled Eggs.”
It was recently confirmed by Variety that Bebe Neuwirth will guest star in one episode, reprising her iconic role as the icy Dr. Lilith Sternin.
The episode in which Neuwirth will appear has been summarized with the following logline: “When they reunite at Freddy’s birthday party, Lilith, in classic form, is far from pleased about having to share Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) now that Frasier is back living in Boston. What begins as a fun party with friends and family, inevitably becomes a Lilith-and-Frasier showdown for the ages!”
Much to the dismay of fans of the beloved Broadway hoofer and actress, Neuwirth had not been included in discussions about the Paramount+ remounting of the beloved Cheers spinoff.
Neuwirth told Closer Weekly in 2019, “No, I just see lots of chatter about it. I don’t know anything. I haven’t heard anything personally.” Now, Variety has reported Neuwirth will return as Dr. Lilith Sternin, a character that queers adored because of her ice queen attitude and penchant for men’s suits and tailored outfits that had more than a touch of BDSM mistress with a sprinkle of Morticia Addams.
Neuwirth played Dr. Frasier Crane’s cerebral and dominant ex-wife psychiatrist Lilith Sternin in Frasier, a spinoff of Cheers told that focused on Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer), who moves back to his hometown of Seattle, settles into a penthouse with his grumpy dad, enjoys capuccino with his finicky brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce) and works as a radio psychiatrist. The hit show aired from 1993 until 2004.
Tony Award-winning Neuwirth first appeared as Frasier’s deadpan girlfriend-turned-wife on Cheers from 1986 until 1993 for which she won two Emmys, but only garnered a single nomination for Frasier in 1995.
