First look at new Rebel Wilson comedy, Senior Year

Capitalizing on the wave of nostalgia gripping the country, Netflix is set to debut the new comedy Senior Year on May 13.

After a cheerleader falls off a pyramid and into a 20-year coma, she wakes up as a 37-year-old woman, ready to return to high school, regain her status and claim the prom queen crown that eluded her.

That is the premise of the new film starring Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids, Jojo Rabbit) which does for the early aughts what Never Been Kissed did for the eighties. The film also stars Sam Richardson whose star continues to rise, and Mary Holland (Happiest Season). There’s even a rumored appearance by Alicia Silverstone herself.

Senior Year is set in ‘modern times’ and as such, Rebel’s character has a prominently featured queer friend portrayed by Joshua Colley, a theatre actor (Newsies), who already appears to be a standout based on the trailer alone! Take a look here:
