Donate on Giving Tuesday with the It Gets Better Project
Today is #GivingTuesday and you’re inbox may be full with pokes from folks who need help. But first, consider how donors like you help the It Gets Better Project save lives.
Nearly two million kids ages 13-17 in the United States identify as LGBTQ+. More than two-thirds experience verbal harassment, 25% are physically harassed, and as many as 1.8 million LGBTQ+ youth ages 13-24 contemplate suicide each year. This year has been especially difficult for LGBTQ+ youth, and our team has been working tirelessly to make sure our young LGBTQ+ people are getting the support they need.
The It Gets Better Project is in a unique position to reach youth before they’re in crisis. Everything we do is designed to celebrate and educate LGBTQ+ on their sexual orientation and gender identity journey.
We meet LGBTQ+ youth where they live, learn, and socialize. That includes TikTok, a platform where queer content creators have helped elevate the It Gets Better Project to the largest queer organization on the platform; Twitch, a highly curated digital safe space where LGBTQ+ youth can connect for several hours every week; and YouTube, the home base for our award-winning original series like Queer Sex Ed and Writing Our Own Dictionary.
We’re in schools, awarding $10K grants to projects uplifting LGBTQ+ students in schools across the country. We’re in 19 countries across four continents with storytelling initiatives in, eight languages making us the world’s largest storytelling effort to empower LGBTQ+ youth.
Your support this #GivingTuesday allows us to continue this critical work.
Please, consider supporting the It Gets Better Project this #GivingTuesday by making a donation today by creating a fundraiser at itgetsbetter.org or on Facebook.
