Honolulu Pride 2019 Announces Allie X as Headliner

The 2019 Honolulu Pride Parade kicks off from Magic Island at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19. Festival gates open at 11:30 a.m. and the Festival will continue until 6:00 p.m. Honolulu Pride will be the culmination of a month of dozens of cultural, social and educational events produced by the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation, their Sponsors, Partners, and Hawaii’s LGBTQIA+ community.

Honolulu Pride has announced that hit songwriter and “outsider pop” artist Allie X will be one of the headliners at the 2019 Honolulu Pride Festival. With a large global cult following, Allie X has sold out shows internationally. She co-wrote Troye Sivan’s debut and sophomore albums in addition to releasing her own critically acclaimed albums COLLXTION II and the recent SUPER SUNSET.

Allie’s social advocacy and collaborations with Sivan and drag superstar Violet Chachki have earned her a dedicated LGBTQIA+ fan-base and regular features in gay publications. Last year, during an interview with Billboard in which she discussed her “apocalyptic” single “Focus”, Allie X also discussed her deep connection to the LGBTQIA+ community. “I try to be careful with my words because sometimes I almost say ‘our community’,”she says. “But then I’m like, ‘no girl, you can’t say that. You haven’t endured the struggle of a queer person.’”

In addition to headlining Honolulu’s Pride festival this year, she also made the rounds as a headliner for numerous other pride festivals last year, including Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

In her Billboard interview, Allie X went on to discuss her connection to the LGBTQIA+ community, stating, “I wrote a love letter to the LGBTQ community for you guys last year — but It’s not a conscious thing I’ve ever thought about. All my closest friends have been gay boys. I’ve always felt this understanding and this appreciation from the LGBTQ community that I didn’t always feel…how do I put it? Like being in a public school or private school with straight classmates that were all dating each other and thinking each other were hot, I just never fit in. I was always the weird girl. I’ve always felt like an outsider.”

Well, Allie X, the LGBTQIA+ community welcomes you to pride!
