Join the online celebration of elder LGBT adults

National Honor Our LGBT Elders Day is Monday, May 16, and you are encouraged to take part by viewing stories of LGBT Elders and sharing your remembrances.

This year’s virtual celebration will include videos, stories, and retrospectives on the National Honor Our LGBT Elders Day page on Facebook at www.facebook.com/LGBTEldersDay. Individuals are also encouraged to post about National Honor Our LGBT Elders Day using #LGBTEldersDay.

It’s not too late for individuals to send their video submission honoring an LGBT elder who made a difference in their life—clips can be uploaded by visiting https://www.lgbteldersday.org/share-your-story. The website also includes a social media toolkit and background about National Honor Our LGBT Elders Day.

“We’re looking forward to another incredible National Our LGBT Elders Day on Monday,” said Sam McClure, director of the Center for LGBTQ Health Equity, which inaugurated the national day of recognition in Baltimore in 2016. “I’m always inspired by the stories shared about our elders, and I encourage everyone to take a moment to watch a few videos or post about this important day.”

About The Center for LGBTQ Health Equity

The Center for LGBTQ Health Equity at Chase Brexton Health Care was created for LGBTQ patients who have been traditionally overlooked, ignored, and discriminated against by health care systems. Through health care services, education, training, research, and advocacy, we are working to end the health disparities that exist within LGBTQ communities and give patients worldwide—regardless of how they identify—the opportunity to live the healthiest life possible.
