Music master brings Broadway and friends to your town

If you’re a fan of theatre, you know the name Seth Rudetsky. If you don’t, you should.

Often the accompanist to Broadway stars, Rudetsky has put together a wonderful mix of song and story for his shows and has had great success with it – even during the pandemic.

Usually under the banner Mark Cortale Presents, Rudetsky has accompanied every Broadway star you can think of: Brian Stokes Mitchell, Jeremy Jordan, Audra McDonald, Patti Lupone, Chita Rivera, Sutton Foster – the list and Tony Award winners goes on and on.

Rudetsky seems friends with these stars and uses a great formula: he gets on stage, does a bit of banter, invites the star on stage, they chit-chat and then the stars, with his musical accompaniment, perform songs from their shows. Then they chat a bit more and those conversations lead us to other songs from other shows.

He doesn’t limit it to Broadway or even Tony Winners. He’s worked with more than a handful of drag queens as well: Varla Jean Merman, Bianca del Rio and Bob the Drag Queen to name a few.

Before you dismiss this because you can’t go to Broadway, don’t worry as Rudetsky brings Broadway to you. This concert series plays in New York, Provincetown, Boston, New Orleans, Fort Lauderdale, San Francisco, Scottsdale, Puerto Vallarta, Chicago and in Europe and Australia.  That’s just a partial list.

He kicked off his “season” last month and is now bringing some great talent on the road — perhaps to your town. New Yorkers will be treated to the wonderful Jane Krakowski Sept. 12 at Town Hall. Those who can’t recall her by name, will recognize her face in particular in her roles in TV’s 30 Rock and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. But she is an amazing singer and dancer and has even won a Tony Award for Nine.

October also has a Tony winner and this time it’s in Provincetown, MA. Rudetsky here will be joined by Christine Ebersole, two time Tony winner for 42nd Street and Grey Gardens. Besides this Oct. 15 show, Ebersole is also booked for a New York show Dec. 31.
October also features RuPaul Drag Race All-Star winner Jinkx Monsoon, who has proven time and time again that she’s a comedic genius and can definitely carry a show.

The other 2022 show of note is the Nov. 3 concert with Tony Winner Lillias White in Beverly Hills. Even if you won’t be nearby, she’s such a belter, you can hear her in your own home.

How does Rudetsky get such talent? How does he keep these shows fresh – even when they were zoomed during the pandemic? Only way to find out is to go!
