National LGBTQ Task Force presents religious freedom panel
Bigots weaponize religious freedom against our community. A new event featuring Rev. Stringfellow and others will address what we can do.
The National LGBTQ Task Force will hold a Facebook Live event on June 14th, just prior to June 16th Religious Freedom Day.
Religious Freedom as a founding principle was intended to protect people in their religious beliefs and practices, and also provide freedom “from” religion. But this belief has been twisted to justify discrimination against LGBTQ+ people and others — as well as to criticize people who adhere to faith practices that the Christian Right doesn’t like, and to diminish secular people or non-Christians. or atheistic views, and to impede people’s reproductive rights and freedoms.
You are invited to a Religious Freedom Day event where leaders from faith-based and secular institutions lift up the true meaning of religious freedom.
When: Thursday, January 14, 6PM ET/3PM Pacific
Who: Moderator, Barbara Satin, Assistant Faith Work Director, National LGBTQ Task Force
Panelists: Rev. Dr. Roland Stringfellow, Director of Ministerial Outreach for the Center for
LGBTQ and Gender Studies in Religion, Senior Pastor of Metropolitan Community Church

Center for Creative Academics); Nick Fish, President, American Atheists and Elaina Ramsey, Executive Director of the Ohio Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.
