Netflix Orders A New Series Based On The Music Of Dolly Parton

Fans of Dolly Parton, this exciting news is for you. Netflix has ordered an eight-episode anthology series based on the country singer’s music.

Each episode will be based on and inspired by one of Parton’s songs. On the series, Parton will serve as singer-songwriter and executive producer.

In a tweet, she wrote that she has always ‘enjoyed telling stories through my music’.

‘I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favorite songs to life with Netflix,’ she continued. ‘We hope our show will inspire and entertain families and folks of all generations.’

The series is inspired by NBC’s two Parton-based TV movies. The two programs, Coat of Many Colors and its sequel, Coat of Many Colors: Circle of Love, were also based on Parton’s music. Coat of Many Colors, released in 2015, earned an impressive 13 million viewers.

Warner Bros. and Sam Haskell, who were involved in the NBC productions, are also said to be working with Netflix now. Jolene was supposed to be the third NBC movie, but it never moved forward.

The singer, who has always been a supporter of the LGBTI community, will also appear in the series.

People also want to see a 9 to 5 reunion, since Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin’s show Grace & Frankie is also on Netflix. Plus, Tomlin was the first one to spill the beans on this new series.

The series is set to arrive in 2019.
