Pixar debuts first ever animated gay character and LGBTQ storyline with ‘Out’
Pixar has debuted its first ever gay lead character in the short 9-minute animated film Out.
The studio behind such beloved animated films as Toy Story and Monsters Inc. recently released a new short film Out to Disney+ last week, in a pivotal move for the production company.
Out tells the uplifting tale of a man who is not yet out to his parents, and finds his mind magically switched with his dog’s when they unexpectedly come to visit.
Directed and written by Steven Clay Hunter (Finding Nemo, WALL-E) and produced by Max Sachar (Coco, Toy Story 3), Out is the first Pixar and Disney short to feature a LGBTQ storyline, central character and same-sex kiss.
