Queer rising star G Flip releases hot new video featuring Upsahl
Drummer-turned-solo star and queer icon G Flip (aka Georgia Claire Flipo) turns up the heat with the release of their new single.
A tale about lust and longing, “Scream” marks a celebration of passion and intimacy, and is anchored by Aussie artist G Flip’s raw and engaging lyricism, stellar production and the addition of American singer-songwriter Upsahl.
G Flip has created a spicy video clip that is not necessarily safe for work — depending on where you work:
“There’s no hiding the fact that this song is about sex. This is my horniest song to date. I was super stoked to get Upsahl on the track, she is an absolute legend and a great musician, we had a lot of fun with it,” says G Flip. The Melbourne-based former percussionist connected with Upsahl remotely during lockdown. “We had a Facetime and she was like ‘DUDE this track is fire,’ and I said ‘Yeah it’s a pretty horny song, smash a verse on it and add what you like.’ She he killed it on her first try. Once I got to LA we finally got to meet and hang and we made a very sexy film clip. To my family… probably don’t watch the clip cause it gets a bit too raunchy!!’
Upsahl adds: “The day G sent me the song, I lost my shiiiit. I’m such a fan of G and of how real and authentic all of their songs are. I’m all for being unapologetically sexual in songs and ‘Scream’ embodies all that.”
A formidable force in Australian pop, G Flip’s meteoric rise has earned them a number of enviable accolades including a critically acclaimed debut album, multiple ARIA Award nominations, four places in the triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2020 and 2019, the biggest Like A Version of last year, a MTV EMA Award, two limited edition Crocs collaborations, and a number of gold, platinum and multi-platinum certified singles.
