Queer pop star Betty Who to perform at DC Pride Weekend
KINETIC: Pride DC is beginning June 8th with four delectable and flavorful parties to satisfy your queer taste buds, including a tasty main event called CandyLand featuring a performance by iconic pop star Betty Who!
Washington DC’s premiere nightlife producers are once again partnering with Capital Pride Alliance to bring a series of mouthwatering, juicy events to DC Pride! Dougie Meyer, Jesus Quispe, and Zach Renovates – collectively, the team behind KINETIC Presents – are set to produce four official events featuring the world’s leading gay DJs and a performance by global pop star Betty Who. KINETIC: Pride DC takes place June 8th – 11th, 2023 at various venues throughout Washington DC.
“We are turning this year’s KINETIC: Pride DC into the ultimate Candy-coated adventure,” says KINETIC’s Dougie Meyer. “Our parties will feature the most scrumdiddlyumptious performances in the city’s biggest and best venues, including Echostage.”
The weekend’s main event, KINETIC: CandyLand takes place Saturday, June 10th at Echostage (2135 Queens Chapel Rd NE), voted the #1 club in the world by DJ Magazine. The evening will feature music from International DJs Tom Stephan, Steve Sidewalk, and XIVER, and a live musical performance by global superstar Betty Who.
In Addition to the main event, the weekend will feature tons of other events by some notable performers. DJ Dan Slater will get the KINETIC party weekend started on Thursday, June 8th when he takes the stage at Soundcheck (1420 K St NW) to present Sugar Pop. Mr. Slater is one of the world’s most in-demand DJs. He has headlined large gay festival events including Miami’s Winter Party Festival, Palm Springs’ White Party, Barcelona’s Circuit Festival and XLSIOR in Mykonos, to name a few. As a record producer, he has created official remixes for major label artists including Cher, Carmen Elektra, and Britney Spears. “I can’t wait to make my return to the nation’s capital for this year’s Pride celebrations,” he says.
On Friday, June 9th 2023, the party continues at REPUBLIQ (2122 24th PL NE) with Grammy-nominated DJ Abel spinning tasty beats from 10PM – 4AM for the UNCUT XL event. KINETIC will take over all three rooms of the massive nightclub, with specially designed play zones and a main floor that is large enough to accommodate thousands of sweaty men, bumping and grinding into one another.
RCA Records synth-pop artist Betty Who achieved her first international hit with “I Love You Always Forever.” Her cover of the Donna Lewis song peaked inside the top ten in Australia and reached the top of the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart in the United States. Betty Who has since climbed the record charts with additional hits including “Weekend,” “Blow Out My Candle” and “Somebody Loves You.”
KINETIC: Pride DC wraps on Sunday, June 11th with DC Pride’s official closing party, discoVERS, taking place at SAX (734 11th St NW) in Downtown DC. Disco-diva Alexis Tucci will spin an open-to-close set from 10pm to 3am with Disco, Nu-Disco, and Disco House music all night long. Special performances throughout the night will be seamlessly integrated into her high-energy disco set.
