Shocking new reports on plans to erase LGBTQ people from public life
Across the country, states are considering legislation that makes it unsafe and even illegal for #LGBTQ people to be themselves and be supported at school. From removing #LGBTQ content from bookshelves and libraries, threatening those who support #LGBTQ youth, and making #LGBTQ visibility illegal, these efforts are just part of a multi-prong war on #LGBTQ people.
Last month, Movement Advancement Project (MAP) kicked off a new report series connecting the dots on the varied ways that LGBTQ people are under siege from a targeted and coordinated campaign to undermine equality and ultimately erase them from public life. The series makes clear that, despite significant policy advances for LGBTQ equality over the last decade, LGBTQ people are facing an unprecedented firestorm of attacks on all fronts.
The 2nd report in the series entitled “Under Fire: Erasing LGBTQ People from Schools and Public Life” is out now! The report details tactics opponents are using to erase LGBTQ youth from schools and to regulate how LGBTQ people show up in public.
