This SF film festival is dragging queens to the cinema
Fishnets & Film is continuing to make a name for itself in the film festival world.
Having had a successful screening in other metropolitan cities, the festival will be coming to Oakland (just East of San Francisco) on Jan. 21 at the cool New Parkway Theater.
According to the festival CEO Robby Kendall, the mission of the festival is to foster and promote both Queer performance art and cinema through the film festival, drag shows and galas.
“We need more joy and engagement in our lives,” says Kendall, “Now more than ever.”
The theme of the event on Sunday, which starts at 12:30pm, is Drag Me to the Cinema and includes screening of several films as well as some VIP drag guests including Amoura Tease and La Chucha with Kendall being the program’s host.
Kendall is also happy to have the Oakland LGBTQ+ Cultural Center as a co-sponsor, which is very active supporter and resource for the gay community of Oakland.
Fishnets & Film doesn’t just have movies and live drag shows – but they have a lot of great items they are selling via a Silent Auction.
For tickets as low as $25, you can’t find a better deal to enjoy your Saturday.
