Top destinations for Labor Day Weekend

With August winding down and Autumn on the horizon, queer vacationers everywhere are already beginning to mourn the loss of summer. But not to worry! We still have Labor Day Weekend for one last hurrah in the sun.

According to Priceline, this Labor Day is on track to be an even bigger travel weekend than last year with hotel searches for the weekend up 19% and flight searches up 15% over 2021.

The data shows that Las Vegas is the number one destination for Americans this holiday weekend for the second year in a row, coming in at the #1 spot as the most popular destination based on a daily average hotel rate of $290 per night. In general, a higher nightly rate results from high demand, one notable exception being New York City which is ranking #4 on this same list, but with a $334 per night average rate, because well, it is New York.

Orlando has jumped to the #2 most affordable destination this year (from #9 in 2021). With average roundtrip airfare at $250 and nightly hotel stays averaging $137 in Orlando, a weekend trip is well worth exploring. This affordability has also helped land Orlando at the #2 spot on the most popular destinations list based on the number of searches.

New Orleans is coming in at #5 as the most popular destination this year, likely due to the surge in tourism The Big Easy is seeing for the return of Southern Decadence.
