Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art partners with Travis Taddeo for Pride
The Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, the only dedicated LGBTQIA+ art museum in the world, has partnered with the brand TRAVIS TADDEO on a limited edition capsule collection of clothing items and accessories for Pride.
In honor of Pride month, the collection launches on June 20, bringing together the worlds of art and fashion to celebrate the wide spectrum of identities and experiences across the LGBTQIA+ community and recognize the path-making spirit of its culture.
The collection includes handmade silk scarfs, handmade t-shirts, and tote bags featuring the text I’m A Thousand Different People – Every One Is Real from a drawing by pioneering transgender actress and muse Candy Darling. To promote the vision at the core of the collection, the Museum and TRAVIS TADDEO conceived a full campaign photographed by New York-based photographer Deonteì Lee. Following an open call launched on social media on May 7, a line-up of community members and talents starred in a day-long photoshoot, taking over the Museum’s galleries and recently renovated office spaces. Models included actor Brigette Lundy-Paine, Mugler muse Connie Fleming, performance artist Kembra Pfahler, author and creative Jezz Chung, and curator Souleo, along with members of the Leslie-Lohman community, including Lukasz Leja, Olivia Morgan, Peter Erik Lopez, and Amber Jones. The campaign also spotlights the Museum’s Executive Director Alyssa Nitchun, the brand’s Co-Founders Travis Taddeo and Raphael Dongier, as well as Deonteì Lee themselves.
Alyssa Nitchun, Executive Director at Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, comments, “As the Museum continues to bring its vision beyond the gallery walls and work with artists across creative disciplines, we are excited to partner with our neighbors Travis Taddeo. Our Pride collaboration was dreamed up in the spirit of friendship, community, and the power of queer creativity.”
Travis Taddeo continues, “This Pride, having the privilege of creating with my peers in our community, brings a sense of strength and limitless freedom. Individual expression is so important to our growth – it inspires and lights the way to our future.”
The new collection is available online on TRAVIS TADDEO’s website, at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, and the TRAVIS TADDEO flagship store in Soho, New York, from June 20. Proceeds from sales will support the Museum’s ongoing and future programming.
